ISP Comparison : Xfinity vs Frontier Internet Review
Internet Bundles Broadband Deals

It's difficult to compare Xfinity and Frontier internet because you can't go wrong with either. Frontier FiberOptic, on the other hand, is a marginally better choice due to its unrestricted data and lack of contracts.

However, if you have to choose between Xfinity and Frontier DSL internet, Xfinity is the better choice (ISP).

Continue reading to learn more about the differences in cost, broadband rates, data limits, and customer service between these two internet providers. Let's take a look and see which one is the right fit for you.

Comparison: Pricing

If you can get Frontier FiberOptic, choose Xfinity over Frontier.

The internet rates from Xfinity and Frontier seem to be leapfrogging. Depending on which speed you prefer, one or the other may have a better promotional price.

Frontier's FiberOptic internet service, on the other hand, is the best value for money, thanks to its low cost, high speeds, and limitless data—not to mention its newer and more efficient fiber technology.

Frontier's fiber internet service, however, is not available to all. Xfinity Internet is the obvious winner if you're stuck with its DSL operation. Here are the Xfinity promotional prices for the Central United States:

DSL internet no longer suffices in today's world. The slowest Frontier connection is 6 Mbps, which is just enough to browse the web and send a few emails. When trying to load Gmail or other websites, we think you'll hear dial-up noises in your ears.

The 25 Mbps and 45 Mbps speeds aren't much better, but if you're the only one online in your house, they'll at least link you to a Zoom call.

If you have a choice between Xfinity and Frontier DSL internet, choose Xfinity.

But, as we previously said, if you can get Frontier's FiberOptic internet, do so. It includes no contracts and limitless bandwidth (Xfinity limits data at 1.2 TB), as well as reasonable pricing for the speeds you get.

Comparison: Speed and Data Caps

While both Xfinity and Frontier FiberOptic have excellent speeds, only Frontier offers unlimited data.

When it comes to promised download rates, Xfinity and Frontier's fiber internet service are almost neck and neck.

For one person to stream, game, and take Zoom calls, we recommend at least 50 Mbps, and both ISPs offer these speeds as well as higher download speeds for larger families.

Frontier's DSL internet speeds, on the other hand, leave a lot to be desired, as we previously said. We don't advise someone to use these speeds unless they have no other choice. (Satellite internet is still a better deal than Frontier's DSL prices and unlimited data.)

speed

According to our most recent study on internet speeds, Xfinity provides the best bang for your buck in terms of real download speeds. It came in seventh out of 38 ISPs we looked at, while Frontier came in twelfth.

Frontier's speed ranking, on the other hand, is likely influenced by its DSL internet service. We reviewed over a million-speed test from 2019 and found that DSL's slower download and upload speeds immediately placed it at a disadvantage.

Our spidey sense informs us that Frontier's fiber internet speeds are likely to be comparable to Xfinity's.

Caps

Frontier takes the lead with limitless data on all of its internet plans, so there's no hemming and hawing here. Even the internet is DSL.

Xfinity, on the other hand, places a limit of 1.2 TB on your data. Although most of us won't go near that data limit, if you work from home or need to download a lot of video games, it will start to loom large by the end of the month.

Xfinity data cap: 1.2 TB
Frontier FiberOptic data cap: Unlimited
Frontier DSL internet data cap: Unlimited

Comparison: Customer Service

While neither ISP is perfect, we prefer Xfinity to Frontier.

Let's begin by stating that no internet provider provides exceptional customer support. It's a sad reality that we wish would change.

Frontier's customer service, on the other hand, is atrocious. In the most recent American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) survey, it received 55 out of 100 points, unchanged from the previous year.

Xfinity, on the other hand, earned a 66 out of 100, placing it in the center of the pack. This is also an improvement over the previous year's ranking of 61 out of 100. Even though we've all read horror stories about Xfinity's customer support, we'd rather deal with Xfinity than Frontier.

Xfinity customer service: 1-800-XFINITY (1-800-934-6489)
Frontier customer service: 1-800-921-8101

Comparison: So, which is better?

The competition between Xfinity and Frontier is fairly close. However, if Frontier FiberOptic internet plans are available in your region, the rates are lower, there is no contract, and you get unlimited data.

If you're deciding between Frontier DSL and Xfinity, however, choose Xfinity.

Price: Frontier FiberOptic. Frontier FiberOptic is available at a reasonable cost. Xfinity and Frontier FiberOptic both have fantastic deals on the internet. Frontier, on the other hand, takes the lead because of its lack of contracts and unrestricted data. Frontier's DSL internet rates, on the other hand, aren't competitive for the speeds offered.

Internet speed: Xfinity. Xfinity did well in our study on the fastest ISPs, but it's difficult to tell how Frontier does. We believe its FiberOptic internet is comparable to Xfinity, but its DSL service is unremarkable.

Data caps: Frontier. Every Frontier Internet plan, including DSL, includes unlimited data. However, Xfinity limits your data to 1.2 TB.

Customer service: Xfinity. While Internet customer support isn't perfect, Xfinity has improved. Frontier, on the other hand, has a lower score than a Stephen King book.
