Online Data Usage Calculator

The theory behind the calculation of data usage

This is one of our special internet tools to help you get a grasp of the concepts involved in the calculation of data usage. The basis of data calculation is based on the average gigabytes you use while entertaining your daily online activities. Here, “online” refers to internet browsing, social media, music apps (e.g. Pandora, Spotify), TV streaming and the such. For businesses, we would also consider VOIP installation as a data usage influencer. Estimate how different internet activities affect your data usage on a monthly basis. Adjust the scrollers below by assigning an average amount for each online activity. In doing so, you need to account for your whole household or office. Meaning that if you have 10 employees, you need to multiply that average data usage by 10 to have an accurate data calculation. For example if you have 2 people in your household each watching TV for 3 hours on separate devices, your total would be 6 hours of streaming video.
