Something Amazing
We compare internet service providers side-by- side to show you the key differences to make smarter decisions when choosing your tv, internet, phone options.
AT&T U-Verse bundles internet, phone, TV. It provides TV over internet networks. AT&T fiber and DSL are offered.
RCN business broadband plans are available. RCN also offers cable broadband internet, TV and phone service.
RCN uses HFC, DSL and Fiber Optic. HFC is the technology that is commonly referred to as "cable". RCN broadband internet, digital cable TV and phone plans are offered via these technologies.
RCN “cable” is their most available and popular option. They use fiber optic networks for the first stretch of data transmission. The local node is where the data is switched to an electrical signal for the rest of the network. Those cables are already used for RCN TV service.
RCN fiber plans are FTB (fiber-to-building) and usually terminate inside or outside near a building. Fiber plans offer much better speeds than cable.
Understand the internet plan fine print before you grab to it.
AT&T offers promotional deals for sign-up. RCN discounts their plans on sign up as well. Be sure to look at the fine prints before you sign on to a long-term contract. The major catch with internet contracts is that AT&T and RCN often create discounted sign-up promotions to entice customers. Both internet providers will offer good broadband deals but the ETFs (early termination fees) might rank up.
If you relocate often and do not plan on keeping the service for a long time, you are better off with a short term internet plan.
RCN installation can be done by a professional or by yourself. RCN provides a self-installation guide that can be simply followed. Should you have your own internet modem or router, you will need to check with their internet service if it is compatible.
Self-installation needs a router set-up. Wireless internet is best used with a router and modem. You will most likely need to provide RCN with MAC ID.
